Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Belaern is operated by Mario Pon (“we” or “us”). This policy explains what personal information Belaern collects when you use belaern.com, how we use it, and what you can do about it. If you have questions, email support@belaern.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, which we use to create your account.
- Your first name, last name, and birthday, entered at sign-up.
- The date you accepted our Terms of Service.
- Anything you add to Belaern, such as campaigns, characters, and notes.
Information from Google
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account ID with us. We also ask permission to read your birthday from Google so we can fill it in for you at sign-up. We store the sign-in tokens Google issues with your account.
Information collected automatically
- Sessions. When you sign in, we record your IP address and browser user agent with the session.
- Request logs. Our servers log technical details of requests, such as the time, the address requested, and whether it succeeded, so we can find and fix errors.
- Rate limits. We keep short-lived request counters tied to your IP address to slow down abuse of sign-in.
Cookies and local storage
We use a cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your light or dark theme choice. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don’t track you across other websites.
How we use your information
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To run Belaern, including showing your content to the people you share it with.
- To confirm you meet the minimum age to use Belaern.
- To send emails you need, such as sign-in links.
- To keep Belaern secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Service providers
These companies help us run Belaern. They handle your information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service:
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Neon hosts our database.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Axiom stores our server logs.
- Google provides Sign in with Google.
These providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries outside the one you live in.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and content until you delete your account. Sign-in links expire after 5 minutes, and sessions expire on their own. Server logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted. When you delete your account, we delete your account information and content, unless the law requires us to keep part of it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing support@belaern.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights, such as objecting to how we use your information or filing a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Belaern account. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us.
Security
All traffic to Belaern is encrypted with HTTPS, sign-in link tokens are stored hashed, and access to our systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee your information will never be accessed without permission.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
